The History
                                   of
                  The United Church of Christ

                               
                                    
          
           We are a congregation within the United Church of 
Christ. The United Church of Christ came into being in
1957 with the union of two Protestant denominations:
the Evangelical and Reformed Church and the
Congregational Christian Churches.

       This congregation was organized in April, 1885.
The Sanctuary was built in 1888 on land donated by 
the founder of the City of Tavares, Maj. Alexander H.
St. Clair Abrams. The Sanctuary was enlarged in 1988.             

       At Union Congregational Church you will find a
warm, friendly church that embraces people from many
different denomations as brothers and sisters in Christ.
